Day 8 - Professor Oak!

Hi Everyone! Boy, did I have an awesome day with Professor Oak!

I went over to his lab the first thing in the morning. He answered his door and said that he had been expecting me! It turns out that my mother had called Professor Oak when I left Pewter City.

He took a look at Pichu; he said that he looked very healthy and should grow up into a very strong pokemon! Pichu seemed pleased at that!

Here's the best part though, the professor said that he would have a very special surprise for me if I helped him care for the Pokemon all day. I had a good idea what kind of surprise Professor Oak had in mind so I quickly agreed!

Professor Oak cares for and studies all the Pokemon that the trainers from Pallet Town catch! There were tons of Pokemon! of all different types! It was fun for me and Pichu to see all of them! We helped Professor Oak feed (or water in the case of the grass Pokemon) all of the Pokemon and helped clean up the ranch (there is no other word for it, this place was huge!).

At the end of the day, me and Pichu were exhausted but it was all worth it when Professor Oak came out with a pokeball and a Pokedex. He said that one of trainers that was going to start out that year had dropped out and decided to start next year.

He opened the pokeball and out popped a Squirtle!! I was completely stoked and thanked the Professor at least a hundred times! The professor also gave me the Pokedex so I could record information on the Pokemon that I see!

Professor said the first place I should go is back to Pewter City to challenge Brock, the gym leader there! I absolutely cannot wait! Me and Pichu started out late in the afternoon and we should make it to Viridian city by tomorrow at this pace! I hope to update with the training me and Squirtle are going to be doing!

Day 7 - Pallet Town!

Hey internet! Me and Pichu just made it to Pallet Town! Since there isn't a Pokemon Center in Pallet Town, we set up camp in the outskirts and are going to see Professor Oak tomorrow!

Not much has happened over the past couple days. I did take out Pichu and Rattata for some training. I trained with Rattata by pushing rocks around to give more strength to his tackle and had him run a makeshift obstacle course that I made from my camping supplies! It was fun to watch: Rattata jumping over Tent Poles and crawling under tarps. Finally, he was able to learn Quick Attack!

With Pichu, I mostly worked on focusing his Thundershock attack and on not hurting itself when he uses it. I had him try and zap one of the metal tent poles stuck upright in the ground. More than once, he accidentally zapped me! Of course that training wore Pichu out pretty quick. After that I focused on Pichu's tackle attack. After a couple base tackles, I remembered that some Pichus could use Volt-Tackle! So I told Pichu to charge up some electricity and then tackle the lightning rod tent pole! It worked! Pichu now knows an electric attack that he can easily control and direct! This will be invaluable in future battles!

That is pretty much all I did as I traveled to Pallet Town, but now I'm here and I can't wait until tomorrow when I meet Professor Oak!

Day 5 - Viridian City

Hey! Sorry I've been out of touch. I completely lost my signal after I left the Viridian Forest. Not much has been happening. It's just been traveling by day and sleeping in a tent by night.

A couple things of note did happen though. First off, me and Pichu have been training everyday. He's definitely gained a lot of experience since we left the Viridian forest. His electric attacks are getting better, but as always with a Pichu, they can still be improved.

Second, I met this guy. At the sight of him, Pichu, who had been walking beside me, shied away and climbed up onto my back. He obviously did not like the man. I introduced myself like any polite Pokemon trainer would. He said his name was Drake and that he was heading north for Pewter City. He was from Johto, the neighboring region to Kanto, and had just finished competing in the Silver Conference. He noticed my Pichu, said he and his Larvitar had beaten one up pretty bad earlier that week.

I was shocked and asked him why he would beat up a Pokemon and just leave it! He said that he was considering capturing it, but after it went down so easily to Larvitar's attacks, he just left it.

It suddenly occurred to me that my Pichu is the one he had beaten up and left battered and bruised in the Viridian Forest. In disgust I left Drake standing there with a smug grin on his face. He obviously recognized my Pichu and Pichu had obviously recognized him.

We made it to Viridian City early this morning and I am staying at the city's Pokemon Center. Tomorrow, me and Pichu will make our way south to Pallet Town and Professor Oak's lab. We should get there by Sunday so check back on our blog then!

Day 2 - Through the Viridian Forest

Day two of my Pokemon blog! Not much to report.

Me and Pichu have made our way through the Viridian Forest and have set up camp for the night on the southernmost edge. The walk was pretty uneventful through the forest and we got through pretty quickly. We made camp shortly after midday and had lunch.

The rest of the day me and Pichu trained. We explored the surrounding area and found a few Pokemon to battle! First we found a Rattata and battled it. It was a simple battle and we were able to beat and capture the Pokemon easily! I found that Pichu's tackle was pretty strong compared to what I had seen of other Pichus in the Viridian Forest.

We next encountered a Pidgey. Because Pidgeys are flying types I decided to see what kind of electric attacks Pichu was capable of. That didn't end well. I told Pichu to try and use Thundershock against the Pidgey but Pichu wasn't able to direct the electricity well. Instead of forming a bolt of electricity, Pichu released his power in all directions. The undirected attack was easy to evade for the Pidgey and it fled. I wasn't so fortunate, as I had received a bundle of Pichu's electricity. Pichu can sure pack a punch when it comes to electric attacks, but it's going to need a lot more practice.

The attempted Thundershock had left Pichu winded so we went back to camp and got ready for the night. I made a fire and then hopped on here to update todays events.

I can't wait to get to Pallet Town and then to go around to all the Kanto Gyms to battle for their badges! I'll probably make it to Viridian City by Thursday.

That's it for today, come back tomorrow for my next update!

Day 1 - My Pokemon Journey Begins!

Hi! I'm Eric of Pewter City and I'm a Pokemon trainer! Well sort of...I hope to be one anyway!

Like every kid in Kanto, I wanted to be a Pokemon trainer when I grew up! Sadly, Pewter City is not the best place to start. With the barren mountains to the north and the Viridian forest to the south, getting a Pokemon to start with is nearly impossible.

The only readily available Pokemon are the Pikachu in the Viridian Forest and for a rookie trainer they are nearly impossible to catch. None the less, I tried to catch one. The Pikachu I sighted were few and far between and without another pokemon to weaken them, the pokeballs I threw were easily batted away by the wild Pikachu.

One day my luck changed though! I was searching for Pikachu deep in the Viridian Forest, deeper than I had ever gone before. It was getting late and I began to make my way home but I then realized that I didn't know which way home was!

I walked around for hours until I found a Pichu! Something, obviously not a Pikachu, had attacked it and just left it there! I quickly went to it's aid. Unfortunately I still had absolutely no idea how to get out of the forest.

I did my best to bandage up the Pichu and we took shelter under a tree. We stuck together all night until morning. I was able to make my way north until I got back to town. I quickly rushed to the Pokemon Center and gave Nurse Joy the Pichu I had found. Luckily, Nurse Joy said that the Pichu would make a full recovery and that it just needed to rest for a couple days.

Relieved I went back home to my Mother, who was worried sick at my absence that night, and told her the whole story. Though it may not have been the best time, with her worried and all, I expressed my desire to go on a Pokemon Journey! She knew how much I had wanted this and said I could go.

The next day I went back to the Pokemon center and found Pichu, in the image of health, waiting for me. Pichu was obviously grateful that I had saved it and accepted me as it's trainer. Together we went home to prepare for my Pokemon journey!

My Mom recommended that I first go to Pallet Town, home of the famous Professor Oak, and see what advice he could give to a new trainer. I was to head south through Viridian City and then on to Pallet Town.

So there you have it! That's my story so far and I hope to keep updating this blog with entries as I continue my journey!

I've got a Pichu, a Netbook, a few Pokeballs, half an idea where I'm going, it's Monday and I'm a pokemon trainer. What could go wrong!
